[Press Release] Mainline Wellness Releases Report from First-of-Its-Kind Intravenous Iron Quality Improvement Project

Quality Improvement Project (QIP) analyzes physiological and anecdotal evidence of IV Iron as most effective treatment for anemia and iron deficiency

VANCOUVER, B.C., CANADA, December 19, 2022 / Mainline Wellness / - Mainline Wellness is pleased to release the final report from a first-of-its-kind Quality Improvement Project (QIP) analyzing the physiological and anecdotal evidence of IV Iron as the most effective treatment for anemia and iron deficiency.

Dr. Adam Davidson, MD, CCFP-EM is an Emergency Physician at Lions Gate Hospital and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine. While continuing to work in the ER, Dr. Davidson has taken his years of clinical experience and developed an outpatient IV therapy clinic with a particular focus on intravenous iron treatment. Dr. Davidson has had a front-line view of the health care system and the issues both patients and medical professionals face daily. Over the years, he noticed an increase in visits to the emergency room for IV therapy requests, specifically IV Iron. He found that many people would come to the ER as a last resort because their symptoms had become so severe, they could no longer wait the weeks or months it took to be seen at an outpatient clinic. Dr. Davidson realized that most of these patients could be easily treated with access to timely IV therapy. Mainline Wellness was born out of a need in the medical system: To provide safe, convenient, and immediate access to Iron IV Therapy.

The QIP’s outcome? It underscores the resolution of symptoms of iron deficiency and anemia from iron IV treatment using laboratory data and presents the patient’s perspective in terms of barriers to treatment. We discovered that there are significant barriers to receiving iron IV treatment through the public healthcare system, despite its proven effectiveness by iron deficient and anemic individuals and that there is a significant need for equal access to timely, IV Iron therapy for those suffering from ID and IDA in our PUBLIC system.

On December 13, 2022 Dr. Davidson was featured on the Jill Bennett Radio Show speaking about the important work of Mainline Wellness and the QIP. You can listen to his interview here.

We would like to thank the 51 participants of this study for generously volunteering their time and publicly sharing their lab results to further advocate for access to IV Iron therapy. Mainline Wellness would like to acknowledge the participants of the Roundtable Discussion. Their candor and participation were impactful.
